Turkey May Block PKK-supporting Finland and Sweden to Join NATO.

For decades both countries had provided safe haven to militants of PKK, a designated terrorist organisation which runs major human and drug trafficking networks across Europe.

In the face of increased Russian aggression, both countries which remained neutral in joining the alliance until recently, have begun considering applying for membership.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country is "not of a favourable opinion" toward the idea.

He accused Sweden and other Scandinavian countries of supporting Kurdish militants and others who Turkey, Australia, United States and the European Union classify as a terrorist organisation.
